Jersey puts more weight on Claw health in NTM
From May 2022 Jersey changes the weight on Claw health in NTM from 0.04 to 0.09. All other weights are unchanged. This will nearly double the genetic progress for Claw health, and it has almost no effect on the genetic progress for the other traits in NTM.
It will have a limited effect on ranking of bulls and cows. A bull with 120 for claw health gets an extra unit in NTM because of this change.
NAV Evaluation
The second NAV routine evaluation for this year took place as scheduled. NAV Bull Search has been updated with new EBV’s and GEBV’s.
For Jersey, the weight for claw health in NTM was slightly changed. This increases the expected response for claw health and has very limited effect on the genetic response in all other traits.
In NAV Bull Search, two new genetic traits were included for Holstein: Red factor and dominant variant red factor.
NAV Beef Search is also updated with new beef x dairy breeding values.

NAV has released breeding values for purebred beef bulls and cows. Beef breeding values are updated to NAV Beef Search.

The latest NAV routine genomic evaluation took place as scheduled. NAV carried out genomic prediction for Holstein, RDC and Jersey.

NAV Interbull Search has been also updated with new Interbull breeding values.
