Carcass traits

Daily carcass gain is based on combining breeding values for bulls and heifers with short (<550 days) and long (>550 d) fattening period, respectively, with equal weights. Daily carcass gain means weight gain from birth to slaughter.

Carcass conformation score means classification of the carcass on the EUROP scale at the slaughterhouse.

Carcass fat score means classification of external fat dressing of the carcass at slaughterhouse.

Carcass conformation score and carcass fat score are based on combing breeding values for bulls and heifers with equal weights. All three breeding values can be published if the bull has a minimum reliability of 50 % for breeding value for carcass conformation score.

Growth index (long/short) includes breeding values daily carcass gain (long/short), carcass conformation score and carcass fat score. Growth index (long/short) is included in NBDI.
