The third NAV routine evaluation for this year took place as scheduled. NAV Bull Search has been updated with new EBV’s and GEBV’s.

NAV Beef Search is also updated with new beef x dairy breeding values.

In this evaluation weight factors were slightly modified in udder index for RDC. There is now more emphasis on teat length and thickness, while the weight on udder depth has been slightly reduced. Read more about the changes from a paper Fine-tuning of the udder index in RDC.

Nordic Partners Co-Found European Bovine Evaluation (EBE)

In July 2025, NAV and its members teamed up with VIT (Germany) and ELIANCE (France) to launch European Bovine Evaluation (EBE), aiming to standardize and enhance genetic evaluations across Europe. The first Holstein breeding values are expected by 2028, with RDC and Jersey to follow. NAV will maintain Nordic-specific evaluations, including NTM, during the transition.

NAV Genomic Evaluation

The latest NAV routine genomic evaluation took place as scheduled. NAV carried out genomic prediction for Holstein, RDC and Jersey. Genomic breeding values of bulls are updated to NAV Bull Search after each evaluation.

NAV appoints Haifa Splittorff as director

NAV has appointed Haifa Splittorf as new director, starting August 4^th. Haifa Splittorff has over 15 years of international experience in cattle breeding, genomic evaluation, and R&D coordination. NAV warmly welcomes Haifa to our team.
