Interbull indices – Compare bulls from all over the world
Breeding values are calculated differently – using different genetic models and genetic parameters – in different countries. Also the trait definitions may differ across countries and interactions between genotype and certain environment may occur. Interbull Centre in Uppsala, Sweden makes bulls breeding values from different countries comparable. Each member country gets bulls breeding values converted to their own country’s scale.
Interbull indices are published three times a year for yield, conformation, fertility, udder health, longevity and functional traits. Also comparison of young genomic bulls is possible in Holstein breed.
