Det nya indexet baseras p\u00e5 torrsubstansintag (DMI), produktion (ECM) och viktf\u00f6r\u00e4ndring. Tolkningen av indexet f\u00f6rblir densamma: h\u00f6gre indexv\u00e4rden indikerar l\u00e4gre foderf\u00f6rbrukning. En index-enhet motsvarar en minskning av torrsubstansintaget med 15\u201320 kg per laktation. Korrelationen mellan det gamla och det nya indexet f\u00f6r sparat foder \u00e4r l\u00e5g, vilket leder till en betydande omrangering av djuren inom indexet.
